India Wins Another Olympic Medal
Olympic Medal Deepa Malik : Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu have won bronze medals in the recent Rio Olympics 2016 which were held in Rio de Janeiro and created a historic moment for the country. Both the women have engraved their names in the history of Olympics and endured our pride and respect among other countries across the world. Now, another great woman has come up and set history in the Rio Paralympics 2016 which were held on Monday i.e., on 12th September 2016 has won a silver medal in shot put F-53 event. She is none other than Deepa Malik who is from Haryana has become the first ever woman in India to win a medal at the Rio Paralympics. Deepa’s greatest throw of 4.61 meters from 6 attempts finalized the silver medal for her in the Olympics.
According to the Haryana Sports Scheme, Deepa Malik will soon receive Rs 4 crore cash prize for her magnificence witnessed in Olympics. Deepa proudly appealed that she will use her silver medal and the cash reward for the women who are facing problems and physical incapacities. Together with the medal of Deepa, India has won a total of 3 medals in the Rio Paralympics 2016 including Mariyappan Thangavelu’s gold medal and Varun Singh Bhati’s bronze medal correspondingly in the high jump. Deepa Malik is also a champion in many other sports such as swimming, javelin throw and also conducts motivational classes for people suffering from disabilities on a regular basis. Currently, Deep embraces the Asian record in the javelin throw and won many silver medals in shot put and discus throw in the year 2011.
