New Bike Lock
Daniel Idzkowski, a native of San Francisco is one of the inventors of this new invention, the bicycle lock. This new invention is called ‘SkunkLock’. Daniel Idzkowski set out to create this type of bicycle lock when he got fed up of his bike being stolen. This does not only act as a deterrent actually stops thieves in their tracks. He describes this new bicycle lock as ‘pretty effective’ saying that the effects last anywhere between 20 minutes to several hours. This varies from person to person and depends on their level of exposure to the chemical.
Yves Perrenoud co-invented the new bicycle lock with Idzkowski. This new bicycle lock is U-shaped and is made of carbon and steel. It has a hollow chamber that contains one out of the three pressurized gasses that they concocted. After a thief cuts about 30 % into the lock, the gas erupts in the direction of the gas. The noxious chemical is disgusting to the point of inducing vomit in many cases. This non-toxic spray has a foul smell. It also causes impaired eyesight and shortness of breath. The company claims that the formula ruins the clothes or any of the protection worn by the bicycle thief.
Media reports said that this new bicycle theft lock called ‘SkunkLock’ is already looking to sell to the countries with high bicycle theft rates like the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Sweden, and Japan.
