CWG 2018: Gold in Shooing:

Indian shooters continuing their winning spirit in Common Wealth Games CWG 2018. Indian shooter Shreyasi Singh won the gold in women’s double trap on Wednesday. Shreyasi Singh beats her opponent Australia’s Emma Cox to claim a gold medal in the double trap competition at the Common Wealth Games (CWG) in Australia.

In the finals both Shreyasi and Emma Cox shot 96 and later Shreyasi shot one more than the Cox to claim the Gold in the event. This is the fourth gold in shooting at the 21 CWG 2018.

Another Indian contender in the same competition Varsha Varman shot 86 across the four rounds. She just missed the bronze with 86. The bronze medal was claimed by Scotland’s Linda Pearson with 87.  Emma Cox secured the second position and won the Silver. In 2017 Commonwealth Shooting Championships Shreyasi won the Silver medal in the trap event.

Bronze in shooting:

Ankur Mittal won the Bronze in the men’s double trap competition and Ashab Mohd stood in the fourth position. David McMath of Scotland won the gold medal in the same event.

Om Mitharval won the Bronze medal in the men’s 50-metre Pistol competition. This is his second bronze at the  21st Commonwealth Games on Wednesday. Earlier he had won the Bronze in the 10m air pistol event. Mitharval is the second Indian who won the two medals in the CWG 2018 after Heena Sidhu.

Mitharval scored  201.1 in the final. Australia’s Daniel Repacholi won the Gold medal with the score 227.2.  Shakil Ahmed of Bangladesh secured the third position with  220.5 and won the Silver.

On the other side Indian boxing star, MC Mary Kom beats Sri Lanka’s Anusha Dilruksh in the women’s 48-kilogram category to enter the finals at the Common Wealth Games 2018.

So far India won Eleven Gold, Seven Silver and Four Bronze in the Common Wealth Games CWG 2018.

Karnataka: HD Kumaraswamy to take oath as CM on Wednesday



The Janata Dal-Secular’s (JD-S) legislative party leader HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that he will take oath as Karnataka Chief Minister on May 23. Initially, the oath ceremony had been planned to take on Monday but it was deferred to Wednesday due to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary. This is the second time Kumaraswamy will be the Southern state Chief Minister. He is the son of JD-S supremo and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.

The speaker will be elected on Thursday. After that, the date of seeking trust vote will be decided. On Saturday Governor Vajubhai R. Vala has invited the Janata Dal-Secular’s (JD-S) leader Kumaraswamy to form the government with the support of Congress. Governor invited Kumaraswamy after the BJPs leader Yeddyurappa quit as a Karnataka Chief Minister before facing the trust vote on Saturday as his party is short of 7 seats for a simple majority (111) in the 224-member hung Assembly. Yeddyurappa resignation opened the door for the both JDS and Congress to form the government.

Kumaraswamy will meet Rahul Gandhi:

The Janata Dal-Secular’s (JD-S) leader said he will flying to Delhi to invite Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday. He has also invited West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, BSP chief Mayawati and others for the oath ceremony. Mayawati Ji has also blessed me, he said. Delhi CM Kejriwal is expected to attend the oath ceremony.

Kumaraswamy said that he will meet Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi and will discuss on the cabinet expansion. We will also discuss on how to give the stable government in the next five years. So far I am not sure about the Congress stand, he said. He said that Mamata Banerjee, Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated me.

Mecca Masjid blast case verdict: All Five accused Aquitted

After 11 years A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Hyderabad announced it sensational verdict on Monday in the case of Mecca Masjid attack. All the five accused men including Swami Aseemanand acquitted from the case. The court dismissed the case due to the lack of evidence.

Defence lawyer B Rajvardhan Reddy said the court identified that the Prosecution has failed to prove the conspiracy. The prosecution could not prove the case due to lack of evidence.

NIA accused 10 people belonging to right-wing organisations in this case. Five accused men among the ten people faced trial in the case. The other three accused men in absconding. The five accused men including Devendra Gupta, Lokesh Sharma, Aseemanand, Bharat Mohanlal Rateshwar alias Bharat Bhai and Rajendra Chowdhary. One of the accused  Sunil Joshi died during the investigation.

NIA officials said that once we get the copy of Court Verdict they will observe it and will decide further course of action.

What Happened on May 18, 2007:

The sensational Mecca Masjid attack happened at 1:25 pm during Friday prayers in 2007 on May 18. The blast caused to death of nine people and had left 58 injured.  At the of blast nearly 10,000  10,000 people were present inside the masjid.

The attack took place at the iconic mosque, Mecca Masjid at Charminar due to the blast of  Improvised Explosive device (IED) bomb.Later the Local police had found two live IED and later they defused the bombs.  Initially, local police had investigated this case. Later the case took over by the Central  Bureau Of Investigation (CBI).CBI had filed a charge sheet regarding this case.

In 2011 the case transferred from the Central  Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) to National Investigation Agency (NIA). Total 226 witnesses have examined and as many as 411 documents exhibited. Swami Aseemanand and Bharat Mohanlal Rateshwar are out on bail. The other three are in prison. In Ajmer Dargah blast case Rajasthan court sentenced Gupta and others to life in jail in 2017.

CWG 2018: Mary Kom first Indian women wins gold in Boxing

Gold Coast:

Five-time World Champion and Parliament member and Olympic Bronze medalist Mary Kom has won the gold in boxing in Common Wealth Games CWG 2018. She has won the gold in women’s 45-48 kg category at Gold Coast, Australia. Indian Boxer Mary Kom defeated Kristina O’Hara of Northern Ireland with a unanimous verdict of 5-0 and claimed the gold on Saturday.

She expressed her happiness through Twitter and she has dedicated her gold to her three sons. Mary Kom thanked her coach and supporting staff. This is her first Common WealtGamesms. Five Months ago Mary Kom won the Asian Championships gold.

In the men’s category, Gaurav Solanki won the gold medal at the 21st Common Wealth Games. He defeated the Brendan Irvine of Northern Ireland with 4-1 in men’s  52kg category. He is the second Indian male boxer to win gold in men’s  52kg category after Suranjoy Sing.

Manish Kaushik won the silver in CWG 2018. He won the silver against  Harry Garside in men’s lightweight 60 kg category. The 22-year old Manish is the first Indian boxer to win silver in Common Wealth Games on Saturday.

Boxer Amit Panghal won the silver medal in the Men’s 6-49 kg category event on Saturday.

So far India has won two Gold, two Silver and three bronze medals in the Common Wealth Games 2018.
