Teaching your pet commands is a crucial part of condo living. You wouldn’t want them to be too noisy and uncontrollable because you have neighbors to think about. Teach them these six commands and you’ll have a more peaceful time in your Boulevard Coast unit.
Sit and Stay
Sit and stay are related in that your pet can remain in a specific spot while you do something else. This command can be used to have them wait at a doorway, such as the building entrance or the elevator.
Potty
Potty or a similar word can be used to indicate your pet should relieve themselves. This action is usually associated with pet pads or designated areas where they can do so. Remember to reward and praise whenever your pet follows your command for positive reinforcement.
Come
‘Come’ is a great way to catch the attention of your furry friend so they come back to you. You’ll want your pet to learn this command for potential use in common areas, such as pet-friendly parks and lobbies.
Off
This command is for getting your pet off furniture and people, among others. It’s important that your pet is under control at all times when indoors and when you have guests or neighbors. The word ‘off’ can save your brand-new couch or vase from being scratched or knocked over.
Quiet
One of the most important commands for people living in apartments or condo buildings. However, it may be difficult to do because it’s their nature to bark and tell or warn you about unusual noises.
Fetch
While not really essential, the fetch command is for bonding and playing with your dog. You can use this while at the park or outside, where it’s safe for you and your dog to do so.
